Hubby and I have been here in Melbourne for the last couple of years and both years we’ve missed having hangi for Xmas.  Last year (2009) I went home for a family function and spotted my cousin’s commercial multikai cooker hubbling and bubbling away in the background. 

Imagine my surprise when he told me it was a portable, above-ground hangi.  Well, I was like a kid in a candy store and pelted him with “who made this, where can I get one from, do they have a distributor in Australia, do they have smaller ones, when can I buy it….?

My cousin gave me the website address in NZ which then told me that Chrisco’s Australia was taking orders for delivery in 2010.  Ok, so I’m not easily phased so I called Chriscos and asked how and where I could get one pronto! Everything else is pretty much history really.  I called you guys and organised for my cooker to be delivered pre-Xmas.  Imagine my surprise when you guys told me that your office is just down the road from us here in Melbourne.  I believe it was fate and that we were meant to have one. 

Anyway to cut a very long story short, we had our beautiful hangi for Xmas dinner, shared it with family and friends and even did the traditional “fry-up” the next morning.

Thanks so much for getting the hangi to us.  It has been used several times since and will probably be used even more in days to come.  There is even talk of taking it to our hockey games in the middle of winter, now that I can definitely handle.
